Optics and machine vision

A central and recognized skill of qmt
A historical skill
Market recognition
qmt has been producing cutting-edge solutions for quality control for 30 years

The qmt optics and vision team is expert in the development of vision systems for quality control and automation. It carries out custom projects (m4u program) according to our clients' specifications and develops standard equipment. This has led to the creation of systems that meet demanding control requirements, integrated into manufacturing lines, in fields as diverse as the production of watch components, glass syringes, stainless steel tubes, and consumer products.

qmt has developed the standard QMT Vision Inspector platform to ensure performance and optimal development cost.

A very precise and very fast measurement

A team dedicated to the expertise of optics and machine vision with a very comprehensive infrastructure to conduct studies and define optimal solutions.

Expertise in many types of applications

Expertise in optical inspection of high-speed production with high repeatability. Unlike an operator, a machine never tires, and its decision criteria do not vary. The solutions developed can meet a multitude of quality control, testing, and process automation applications.

Innovative optical systems

The know-how of the qmt team covers traditional industrial vision but also innovative optical systems, i.e. systems simulating the gaze of a human being but also 3D vision , augmented relief vision , chromatic confocal , etc.

Algorithms

QMT experts often use NI's Vision Development module and Vision Builder for Automated Inspection platform to develop algorithms and perform inspections and measurements. They complement these tools with QMT or open-source algorithms.

Knowledge of the specificities of industrial sectors

We are active in multiple industries , but have particular experience in our seven strategic industries which are watchmaking, aeronautics & defense, medical, automotive, railway, electrical engineering and energy. Our reference list is a testament to our successes.

Artificial intelligence in optical systems

We are developing expertise in artificial intelligence for optical control. Our solutions have limitations that are defined in the QMT approach for implementing artificial intelligence.

The applications
  • Accurate dimensional measurement
  • Assembly control
  • aesthetic control
  • Robot guidance
  • Print quality control
Complete mastery of vision systems

In summary, the Machine Vision inspection cycle consists of taking one or more images of the object to be inspected, scanning them, applying image processing algorithms dedicated to the inspection and providing a verdict based on predefined criteria or initiating another action based on the results. Our experts handle the entire inspection cycle, from the choice of suitable optics and sensors to the interface with the industrial environment, including the definition and optimization of image processing algorithms.

The Techlab

Some projects require an initial phase of theoretical or experimental study to validate feasibility. Our team has a laboratory equipped to resolve technical doubts experimentally. In addition, the team includes scientists who can address the problems posed theoretically. This gives clients the opportunity to validate the performance of their equipment before implementation.

The choice of material

QMT experts select the right equipment for project success, paying attention to all the optical components that determine the quality of the images acquired. The QMT Vision Inspector platform integrates a complete range of equipment that meets our benchmarking criteria to meet the needs of all types of projects. We also develop our own innovative optical systems, such as the QMTVLine mounting system and QMTeclipse lighting, to fill market gaps.

Specific features of projects carried out according to ISO 13485 requirements (option):

The requirements of ISO 13485 apply to companies that design control systems for medical devices. Throughout the value chain, QMT products are designed, developed, and manufactured with the goal of being safer and more effective. Particular rigor is placed on traceability and risk analysis for the medical sector. Risk analysis is integrated into the risk management file for the product.
