Mechanical design
An essential skill in mechatronic systems
An essential component of a mechatronic system
The qmt mechanical team is expert in the production of mechanisms used in our quality control and testing systems. It carries out custom projects (m4u program) according to our customers' specifications and develops standard equipment. This has led to the creation of systems that meet mechanical integration and micromanipulation requirements, integrated into manufacturing lines, in fields as diverse as the production of watchmaking and automotive components, and medical devices.
Customizable solutions to perfectly meet your needs
Mechanics to control the “submicrometer”
Our mechanical design team develops complex solutions and works in partnership to meet the demanding requirements of mechanical performance measurement and testing systems.
Quality control and testing applications often require advanced mechanisms to ensure measurement reliability. Our mechanical experts have the sensitivity and experience to define mechanical performance requirements, design static and dynamic mechanisms, select and validate suitable mechanical components, and develop our mechatronic systems, either in-house or in partnership.
Whether it is micromechanical design or the assembly of our complex machines, our engineers meet the requirements and specifications of our customers. Our mechanical expertise is linked to the control, testing and micromanipulation of the devices to be controlled (Device Under Test, DUT). In line with our strategy of providing Mechatronic Systems with Multiple Inspections ( M2IS ), our experts also design mechanisms automating certain production operations. This improves the reproducibility of measurements and reduces the cost of control.
We are active in multiple industries , but have particular experience in our seven strategic industries which are watchmaking, aeronautics & defense, medical, automotive, railway, electrical engineering and energy. Our reference list is a testament to our successes.
Although the machining of our mechanisms is carried out by our partners and suppliers, our workshop in Plan-les-Ouates is equipped to carry out simple operations to finalize the assembly and make adjustments. Since 2020, our two sites in Plan-les-Ouates and Barraux have also been equipped with 3D printers that allow us to accelerate the realization of ideas to test them or even quickly manufacture a missing mechanical part.
Our experts handle the entire mechanical development cycle, from specification based on control needs, selection of suitable components, through design, assembly and adjustment of mechanisms, to interfacing with the industrial environment.
- Measuring and testing stands and enclosures
- Dynamic manipulation of sensors and DUTs
- Micro-mechanical manipulators, for example for arming, lubricating, the DUT
- Electromagnetic and acoustic insulation
- Optical isolation
QMT experts select the right equipment for the success of the project, paying particular attention to all the mechanical components that determine the quality of the measurements taken. We also develop our own innovative systems, such as the QMTVLine installation , to fill market gaps.
QMT experts use PTC's CREO computer-aided design (CAD) tool. Ultimaker-Cura software is used for 3D printing.
