QMTEclipse - an innovative lighting technology
Lighting that reveals the secrets of transparent samples
The challenge is to create lighting that amplifies the defects of transparent or translucent samples. These defects are on the surface or inside the sample to be analyzed. In this case, standard backlight illumination does not provide sufficient contrast to detect defects, for example air bubbles or micro-scratches. The QMTEclipse enhanced contrast illumination makes them detectable.
This technology is compatible with all sizes of fields of view. Its implementation only requires standard hardware for both cameras and lenses. QMTEclipse is compatible with the entire Qualimatest software suite. This lighting can be used, for example, with a line camera to detect defects on moving rollers.
The advantages of QMTEclipse lighting are:
- Detect faults with better resolution than with a conventional lighting system

The limits of QMTEclipse are:
- Functional only on flat surfaces
- QMTEclipse is an oriented lighting, so it only detects defects not parallel to the orientation
